●Hon'ble Minister of Jal Shakti held Review Meetings regarding the 99 prioritized PMKSY projects during 17-19 July, 2019. Officers from the concerned State Governments, Ministry of Jal Shakti, CWC, NABARD, NWDA participated in the Meetings.

●Commissioner (SPR) visited the priority projects of Telangana State under PMKSY, met Chief Secretary of the State and held meeting with the State Government Officials to review the progress of works under PMKSY-AIBP during 21-23 February 2019.

●Commissioner (SPR) reviewed the progress of priority projects under PMKSY-AIBP through Video Conferencing during 25-26 February, 2019.

●Commissioner (SPR) visited Maharashtra along with team from European Union (EU) in connection with the Water Use Efficiency Studies of Lower Panzara Project and also visited the Varkhede Londe Medium Irrigation project and Waghur Irrigation Project of Maharashtra which are getting central assistance under Special Package/ PMKSY, during 05th-08th March 2019.

●Commissioner (SPR) visited and reviewed the works of Shahpur Kandi Dam (National Project), Punjab during 25th-27th March 2019 and also met the concerned officials of the State Government of Punjab.

●During 2018-19, for AIBP works, Central Assistance (CA) amounting to Rs. 2849.07 crores and State Share amounting to Rs. 8300.58 crores has been released through NABARD to priority projects. Further, CA of Rs. 1400 crore has been provided for Polavaram project during 2018-19.

●Total CA released for AIBP works of 99 projects and Polavaram project from 01/04/2016 to 31/03/2019 is Rs. 9,750.55 crore and 5914.16 crore respectively.

●Secretary (WR,RD&GR) reviewed the project-wise status of works in PMKSY prioritized projects and RRR-SMI Schemes on 25.04.2019.

●Commissioner (SPR) visited the Patiala Feeder and Kotla Branch Canal, Punjab, one of the priority projects under PMKSY during 12-14 May, 2019. He took stock of the status of works in the project and held discussions with the concerned Officials from the State Government of Punjab.

AIBP Programme

Central Government launched the Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme (AIBP) in the year 1996-97 to provide Central Assistance to major/medium irrigation projects in the country, with the objective to accelerate implementation of such projects which were beyond resource capability of the States or were in advanced stage of completion. Priority was given to those projects which were started in Pre-Fifth and Fifth Plan period and also to those which were benefiting Tribal and Drought Prone Areas. After launch of PMKSY in 2015-16, AIBP became a part of PMKSY. Since its inception, 297 Irrigation / Multi-Purpose Projects have been included for funding under AIBP. Priority was given to those projects which were started in Pre-Fifth and Fifth Plan period and also to those which were benefiting Tribal and Drought Prone Areas. After launch of PMKSY in 2015-16, AIBP became a part of PMKSY. Since its inception, 297 Irrigation / Multi-Purpose Projects have been included for funding under AIBP. Out of this 143 projects have been completed and 5 projects were foreclosed. An irrigation potential of 24.39 Lakh ha has been created through the completed projects. The cumulative Central Loan Assistance / Grant provided to States under AIBP (MMI) to all of above projects till 31.3.2016 was Rs. 55196 crores. Twenty-five States got benefited from the programme. Under PMKSY (AIBP), 99 projects having ultimate potential of 76.03 lakh ha. have been prioritized for completion by Dec.,2019. Total requirement of funds for completion of these 99 projects is estimated at Rs. 77,595 crore including CAD&WM works. For AIBP works estimated cost is Rs. 48,546 crore with Central Assistance (CA) of Rs. 16,818 crore.
